Autumn Calabrese from the 21 Day Fix and Sagi Kalev from Bodybeast have teamed up and created a new masterpiece of a program called Hammer & Chisel. The new at home strength training program combines strength, agility, and endurance to get maximum results in 60 days.
Sagi and Autumn are both known in the fitness community for competing in fitness and bodybuilding competitions; the “hammer” portion is with Sagi and features heavier weights and the “chisel” portion is with Autumn and features more repetitions and agility training — along with endurance.
There is a modifier throughout the entire program, so truly anyone can do it. However, after completing 60 days myself, I do not recommend this program for a beginner. It is helpful to have completed the 21 day fix, Bodybeast , P90X , P90X3 or 21 day fix extreme before completing this program. It contains almost daily weight training and some familiarity with weight training is very helpful and recommended.
The program is 8 weeks long with 1 day of rest per week. Each workout will take you between 26-40 minutes a day. You will need a bench or stability ball, a variety of dumbbells, and a resistance band. A pull up bar is very helpful as well, and I used the pull-up assistance band the entire workout too.
The nutrition program is similar if not exactly the same as what you have used in the 21 day fix and fix extreme, and focuses on portion control. It takes some meal planning and a bit of prep, but you will not be hungry. Muscles need fuel to grow!
Here are my results from the program:
I lost 0 pounds but lost a total of 6 inches!I am very happy to say that I can now 3 full pull-ups unmodified when I started the program I couldn’t one.
Also, while I wasn’t running the entire program, I ran the weekend I completed the program and was able to run 5 miles without any problems at my same or slightly quicker pace! Cross training does a body good!
